Charles Woodson Free Agent Summary
After four Pro Bowls and two First-Team All-Pro appearances with the Oakland Raiders, Woodson began to struggle with injuries in the silver and black. When Oakland decided against extended the former Heisman Trophy winner, Green Bay, known for his fiscal responsibility in free agency, saw an opportunity to make a major addition to their defense and signed Woodson to a seven-year, $52.7-Million contract in 2006.
In 2010, Woodson and Green Bay renegotiated his contract, signing a new five-year, $55-Million deal. During that span, Woodson accounted for 38 interceptions, 86 passes defensed, 15 forced fumbles and 11.5 sacks. He made four more Pro Bowls, two more First-Team All-Pro teams and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009, and the Packers won the Super Bowl XLV. The team released Woodson in 2013.
Woodson returned to Oakland for the final three seasons of his Hall-of-Fame career. He retired after the 2015 season and is now a part of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown.
